three cows and one bull

One day i walked in the forest and suddenly i saw a cow. I said to the cow: 'he, dheno!' This is the grammatically correct form to address a single cow in sanskrit. But the cow was not impressed and continued to graze by the the side of the road. A moment later i saw a second cow. I said: 'he, dhenuu !!' This is the grammatically correct form to address two cows in sanskrit. But both cows were not impressed and continued to graze silently by the the side of the road. Some time later I saw a third cow. I said: 'he, dhenavah !!!' This is the grammatically correct form to address three or more cows in sanskrit. But all three cows were unimpressed and continued to eat the green grass by the side of the road. The next day I saw a bull in the forest. I said: 'he, gau!' This is the grammatically correct form to address one bull in sanskrit. The bull stopped grazing, turned his had, looked at me, opened his mouth and said loud and clearly: 'Om!' Then he closed his mouth again and returned his attention to the grass growing at the side of the road. Another day I went for a walk into the forest and suddenly I saw a furious black dog coming towards me from one house barking at me. I said: 'he, shvan!' This is the grammatically correct form to address one dog in sanskrit. But the dog continued barking and exposed his teeth. So I reached into my pocket and brought forward some biscuits. As the black dog barked louder, threw one biscuit towards the dog. The dog immediately stopped barking and ran for shelter, as if I had thrown a stone at him, not a biscuit. I picked up the biscuit, held it for one moment into the air and then put it down on the ground and walked away. The dog came closer, sniffed suspiciously at the buiscuit and swollowed it up. The next time he saw me, he didn't bark at me anymore.

the bear and the tiger

one day i walked in some forest. i came through a wild and lonely valley. suddenly i heard a sound from the side. i turned my head and saw a big black bear. the bear skillfully jumped up a tree and looked at me inquiringly. i had been told in the last village that my path would go through the territory of a bear and a tiger. 'who dares to walk through my territory?' the bear asked me. 'it's me, the tiger!' said i. i squatted a bit lower, so that the bear couldn't see me so good. would he believe me or not? the bear looked at me and i looked at the bear. we both took a deep breath. then i decided that i would feel more comfortable with some more distance between the bear and me. the bear had the same feeling at the same time. he made an impressive jump from the tree to the hillside and disappeared in the thickness of the undergrowth. i quickly walked away towards the river side. one or two hours later i met a group of locals who came the opposite way. i told them about my meeting with the bear and told them also that unfortunately i didn't see the tiger. 'most of those who see the tiger usually don't talk anymore', commented one of them.

monkey exercise

one beautifull morning, after watching the sunrise from the side of the river, i was sitting on the roof of my palace, excercising. suddenly i became aware that a monkey was sitting not far away, watching me. so i made some jump-throughs, forwardbends and backdrops, trying to look as beatifull as i could and then i even performed a free palm-balance. but the monkey looked more and more boredom until he finally turned away, jumped from roof to roof and disappeared. some other day i was exercising on the roof when another monkey appeared. he was sitting less then four feet away from me, but he didn't even look into my derection once. what is the point, i thought, and continued my exercises. then i was exercising some day on the rooftop when i suddenly heard somebody shouting out loudly. i opened my eyes and saw the keeper of my palace, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, wielding a long stick and chasing a monkey.

rishikesh-delhi-gorakhpur-nepal-gorakhpur-varanasi

after two weeks practice with the shouting master in rishikesh, i wanted to go on a night train from haridwar to gorakhpur in the northern provinces. but the train which i had booked was running eight hours late. so i went on a night train to delhi instead. the next night i wanted to go on a night train to gorakhpur, but i confused the train which i had booked with another train to the same destination with a similar train number. as a result, i slept one night in delhi. the next night i succeded to board the right train, which brought me to gorakhpur. after leaving this train in gorakhpur, i sat two-and-half hours in a bus which stopped right at the border of nepal. it took me less then five minutes to walk into nepal. then i slept one night in nepal. in the morning i rose up early enough to go for a walk through the paddies. i stopped at a bridge where i had a short conversation with an armed soldier and a rikshaw-driver while looking at mt.daulgiri and mt.annapurna, both higher than 8000 meters, above the horizon in the distance. then i turned around and walked across the border back into india. i got on a bus to gorakhpur and there i boarded a night train. the following morning i woke up before dawn in varanasi (benares). when i walked out of the train-station, there was thunder. then there was a lightning flash. the next moment it begann pouring down. after the rain had stopped, i started to walk. after half an hour i reached the ancient part of the city. i tried to find the bank of the river ganges, but i wa lost for almost an hour in the maze of the narrow lanes. suddenly i stepped into an opening in the dense urban fabric near aurangazeb's mosque. it felt like stepping into a clearing in the forest. i crossed over to the other side of the opening from where i could see the huge space of the curving river. then i noticed that the night had ended and that the sun was about to rise.

a blurred dark spot swaying on the street

this morning i was about to walk across the street to drink a glas of tea and read a paper, when suddenly i stopped: i had seen a blurred dark spot swaying at the end of the street. i looked closer and saw that the spot had a big long trunk. when the spot swayed closer i could see that a small man was sitting on top of it. the spot swayed closer and became bigger and bigger, in the middle of motorcicles, rikshaws, cars and trucks driving on the street. when the spot swayed past me, i followed with my eyes. suddenly a man stepped in front and extended his arm towards the elephant. the elephant extended gracefully his trunk to the extended hand. they touched each other. then both the elephant and the man disappeared (behind a curve).
